LAJVÉRPUSZTA, SZELESHÁT WINERY 2012
Szeleshát lies on the plateau of Alsónyéki-hegy (Alsónyéki Mountain), in the southernmost part of Szekszárdi dombság (Szekszárd Hills), where the already gentled slopes of Mecsek meet the vast plain of Alföld. The plateau is like a wedge between the cooler climate of the valley and the dry, warm air of Alföld: the constant blending of the two air masses creates the characteristic winds the area was named after (Szeleshát - Windy Plateau).
In addition to the microclimate of the area, its topography is also characteristic: the gentle slopes of the hills and the brook running in the valley of Lajvérpuszta form a unique pattern.
The architectural concept of the winery is the imprint of this unique, meandrous pattern. The layout of the winery follows the path of the water flowing down the valley; the visitor's path, the line of the stairs, the geometry of the skylights also repeat this motif.
The complex consists of two main buildings: a single-story processing building and a two-story aging cellar with social and tasting rooms. The bulk of the winery is under the terrain, the visible parts follow the lines of the valley.
