VILLÁNY, WUNDERLICH WINE HOTEL 2010
Villány is the southernmost wine region of Hungary, with a reputation based on the outstanding quality of wines that have been produced here for centuries. Over the past decades, wineries have been founded one after the other, producing wines that became famous world-wide. The region's wine tourism programs are becoming more and more popular; several developments have been launched to cater for the needs of visitors. One of them would be the Wunderlich Wine Hotel.
The site is located between the towns of Villány and Nagyharsány, among vineyards. Driving by car between the two settlements, nothing would stop the eye; therefore - to create an easily identifiable, unmistakable landmark - we defined the bulk of the building as a characteristic form, floating over the landscape.
The spatial structure of the hotel is clean and logical; the large event room and the intimate spa both fit in easily. Thanks to the openable ground floor façade, the park surrounding the hotel can serve as an additional event space in nice weather.
