Máriaremete, Swimming Pool Preliminary Design 2017

MÁRIAREMETE, SWIMMING POOL COMPLEX PRELIMINARY DESIGN 2017
The building site is located in the green belt of Buda, near Máriaremetei út. The multi-pool swimming facility is expected to host a variety of purposes and audiences: swimming lessons of local schools, water polo training sessions, and international swimming competitions.
The bulk of the building consists of two major geometric elements: the barrel-vaulted unit of the competition swimming pool and the L-shaped block of the additional functions. Their monolithic appearance is lightened by the glass walls of the lobby, the lesson pool, the outdoor pool, and the fitness area; as well as by the undulating motif on the sidewalls, the gable of the barrel-vault, and the attic. The indoor 10-lane pool with the two-sided grandstand is suitable for hosting international swimming competitions. By dividing and separating the 50x25-meter pool, the two 25x25-meter units are able to satisfy the swimming needs of local residents and to give place for water polo training sessions simultaneously.
The outdoor swimming pool on the south side of the facility can be used as a lido in the summertime, and is also suitable for playing water polo matches. A 20x10-meter lesson pool will be built to be used for morning swimming lessons of local schools. The facility also incorporates a fitness room and a snack bar.
