Szeleshát Winery 2015

BÁTASZÉK, SZELESHÁT WINERY RECONSTRUCTION AND EXTENSION 2015
Szeleshát lies on the plateau of Alsónyéki-hegy (Alsónyéki Mountain), in the southernmost part of Szekszárdi dombság (Szekszárd Hills), where the already gentled slopes of Mecsek meet the vast plain of Alföld. The plateau is like a wedge between the cooler climate of the valley and the dry, warm air of Alföld: the constant blending of the two air masses creates the characteristic winds the area was named after (Szeleshát - Windy Plateau).
The construction site owned by the Szeleshat Winery lies at the foot of a hill at Bátaszék. At present, the processing building standing on the plot is occupied by the technology division of the plant, the social rooms of the employees, and the administrative offices of the winery.
With the planned expansion, the technological areas of the winery are supplemented with maturing and storage functions. The new, U shaped wing is constructed with stems towards the existing building, creating an inner courtyard. The wall covering and the roof structure of the old building will be dismantled; the structure of the new wings is based on the old building’s system and materials. Both sections will be furnished with the same new roof structure and sinus panel façade cladding; as a result, the finished building will have a uniform appearance.
The pergola spanning over the entrance area between the old and new wings is shaped similarly to the two buildings, but with differing materials and structural solutions. In addition to its compositional role of connecting the two buildings, the covered-open space also provides appropriate accent to the entrance.
